O'Rourke called "a parliament of whores," aka Congress, decided to allow these exemptions to expire. Moreover, why wasn't the White House on top of this? Guess there weren't enough lobbyists greasing the wheels - pun intended - to ensure the exemptions were kept. As they move into their sedan model, it will be much closer to the price point of a new Prius w/ Hymotion. Once adoption rates go up, prices will inevitably come down. But I don't think it's fair to bash them for the cost of a car that is a concept car in small batch production.
